2022 MCSL Coaches Invitational Long Course Meet (Rescheduled)

The Coaches Long Course Program for the Tuesday, July 19 rain date is available. Programs will NOT be available at the meet, we suggest you print your own copy and bring it with you.

Note: The program was updated at 6:15pm Monday, July 18 to fix a problem in events 16, 20, and 25. If you retrieved it before that, you should download a new copy.

Due to inclement weather on July 12, the Coaches Long Course meet has been rescheduled. Thank you for the RSFC leadership for accommodating this change. We are hopeful that the weather will cooperate for our backup date.

Date, Location & Schedule

The rescheduled MCSL Coaches Invitational Long Course Meet will be held the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center, 355 Martins Lane, on Tuesday, July 19th. The meet will begin at 6:30 pm and the facility will be opened at 5:00 pm. The warm-up schedule is listed below:

There will be no halftime break. Instead, we have three lanes for continuous warm-up/warm-down in the upper pool. These lanes will open after the warmup period in the competition pool has concluded.

Swimmers may only warm-up in the Competition Pool during the designated warm-up period.

Map/Meet Layout for parking, athlete seating and coaches areas, spectator areas, T-Shirt pick-up, Bag Tag pick-up, Awards pick-up and Officials/Volunteer sign-in.

Practice Starts

Update: Practice starts will not be available for the rescheduled meet.

Starting blocks will be used at this meet. For swimmers who are not familiar with starting off a starting block, the Swim Center will open the pool for “practice starts only” from 8:30 am to 9:00 am on the morning of the meet. Swimmers must be accompanied by and supervised by a coach who is qualified to give instruction for starting block use, and should enter the facility at the indoor entrance and let the front desk staff know the swimmer is going to be preparing for a meet.

Scratch Deadline and Procedure

If a swimmer, based on previous time rankings, expects they will be seeded in the meet and they either (1) do not plan on participating in the meet or (2) do not want to swim a particular event, they should scratch from the events they do not want to swim. Scratches for this meet will not be accepted after July 4th and must be submitted utilizing the MCSL Online Scratch process.

USA Swimming Sanctioned Meet 

This meet is sanctioned by Potomac Valley Swimming and USA Swimming and officiated by Certified USA Swimming Officials and will be judged using USA Swimming Rules (not MCSL Stroke & Turn Rules). Times swum by swimmers that are members of USA Swimming are considered official USA Swimming times.

Swimmer Check-in Procedures

All swimmers, including alternates, should report to the staging area (behind the blocks, see map) no later than three events prior to the time their event is scheduled to be swum. For example, if the swimmers for event 11 are either on the blocks or in the water, swimmers for events 12, 13 and 14 should have already reported to the staging area. A complete schedule of when swimmers should report to the staging area for each event is provided in the Staging Area Reporting Schedule. Once swimmers for an event have been released from the staging area and moved to the Starting Area, alternates should check-in with the Deck Referee or start area Chief Judge. Only the Deck Referee will place alternates in an event. If there are empty lanes, alternates will be placed in a lane. If there are empty lanes and no alternates present at the start of the event the lanes will not be filled.

Restriction on Use of Technical Swimsuits for 12 & Under Events

This meet is a USA Swimming Approved meet and is conducted under USA Swimming Rules, including rule 102.8.1.f which states that no technical suits shall be worn by any 12 and under USA Swimming athlete member. Thus all swimmers in 12 and under events must be in compliance with this rule and may not swim in a technical suit.

A technical suit is defined by USA Swimming as having: (1) any bonded or taped seams regardless of its fabric or silhouette; or (2) woven fabric extending past the hips.

Use of Towels for Starts

Towels are permitted to be used for both forward and backstroke starts.

Officials

Only USA Swimming Certified officials are eligible to work this meet. If you are interested in working the meet please indicate your interest by contacting Jim Garner at rules@mcsl.org

Meet T-Shirts

Meet T–Shirts will be available for purchase for this event and may be ordered in advance of the meet through Capital Sport & Swim. Pre-orders are due July 8 for delivery at the meet. Use this order form. Orders are placed directly with Capital Sport & Swim and should not be sent to MCSL. T-Shirts may be ordered for all swimmers that are listed on the Long Course seeding (including alternates) posted on the web. T-Shirts may be picked-up, by a team Representative or coach, at the Capital Sport & Swim tent during the meet.  

Bag Tags

Swimmers will be provided Bag Tags for this event. Each team's bag tags may be picked up, by a team Representative or coach, behind the Officials table.

Meet Programs

Meet programs will be uploaded to the MCSL website in advance of the meet and will be available to be downloaded or printed. Meet programs will not be available on site.

Team Tents

Tents may be placed on the grassy areas behind the Officials tent. No tents will be permitted in the grassy area between the Competition and the upper Recreation pools.  

Parking

Entrance to the Centers parking lot is only through the easternmost (indoor pool) driveway and the exit is through the westernmost (outdoor pool) driveway.

A fee of $2.00 is charged for parking in the Center’s lot. You may drop someone off without paying the fee but you cannot park in the lot and must exit after dropping off. If you choose to park in the Centers lot only park in defined spaces. Do not make your own parking space. 

If you do not park in the Centers lot you may park on Martins Lane, the Rock Terrace School parking lot (do not park on their fields or grass) or in the Board of Education parking lot off of Mannakee Street. 

Do not park on the baseball field across the street from the Center or on side streets as this will likely result in you receiving a City of Rockville parking ticket.

Please assist the staff in making the parking operation a smooth one.

Additional Parking

Additional parking will be available at Montgomery College, Rockville, lot 10, which is the lot adjacent to Mannakee Street closest to the Swim and Fitness Center. No shuttle service will be available this year.

2022 MCSL All Star Relay Meet

The programs for All-Star Relays are now available for Section I (divisions A-H) and Section II (divisions I-O). We will be providing programs for officials, and one program per team. If a team would like more than one copy, you'll need to print them yourselves before the meet.

Date, Location & Schedule 

The MCSL All Star Relay Meet will be held in two separate sessions at the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center, 355 Martins Lane, on Saturday, July 30th. Section I (Divisions A thru H) will begin at 7:00 am and Section II (Divisions I thru O) will begin at 10:00 am. The facility will open at 6:00 am. 

The entire pool will be available for general warm-up but only lanes 2, 3, 6 and 7 of the Competition area will be available for Starts and Sprints. All swimmers must enter the pool at the Start End only. The warm-up schedule for each Section is listed below: 

Section I

6:30 am thru 6:55 am - General Warm-up & Lanes 2, 3, 6 & 7 open for Starts and Sprints 

Section II

9:30 am thru 9:55 am - General Warm-up & Lanes 2, 3, 6 & 7 open for Starts and Sprints  

With the exception of the Start & Sprint lanes, all swimmers must enter the pool feet first. 

Continuous warm-up will be available throughout the meet at the far end of the pool (non-Competition area) but no Starts will be possible during continuous warm-up.  Feet first entry only!

There will be NO other pools at the Center available for warm-up.

Map/Meet Layout for parking, spectator areas, T-Shirt pick-up, awards pick-up and Officials/Volunteer sign-in. 

Scratch Deadline and Procedure 

If a relay team is seeded in the meet and does not plan on competing the Representative/Coach of that team should scratch the team from their event. Scratches for this meet must be submitted by 6:00 pm on Monday, July 25th and must be submitted by sending an email to automation@mcsl.org.

Remember: there are no swimups allowed at All Star Relays. If a team does not have enough swimmers of the correct age group, then they should scratch from the event to allow another team to swim.

Check-in Procedures

All coaches must pick up their relay cards from the Clerk of Course at the start of warm-ups. The relay card must be completed and returned to the Clerk of Course per the below schedule.

9 thru 12 No later than start of Event 5
13 thru 16 No later than start of Event 9
17 thru 22 No later than start of Event 13

If a team does not turn in a completed relay card in accordance with the above schedule and an alternate team has been assigned the original team WILL NOT be allowed to swim the event.

Only relay cards must be returned to the Clerk of Course. Swimmers should report directly to their assigned lanes.

Officials, Timers/Take-Off Judges and Other Volunteers 

The MCSL All Star Relay Meet requires the staffing of two full sets of Officials, Timers, Take-Off Judges and Other Volunteers since the meet is run in two sessions – Section I and Section II. This meet is a unique event in that each Division swims approximately the same number of Relay teams. As a result, we need All Divisions to solicit volunteers and help staff the meet.

The All Star Officials/Volunteers Coordinator for each Division will be soliciting volunteers to work as Officials (Referee, Starter and Stroke & Turn Judges) as well Timers/Take-Off Judges/Marshals. If you wish to work as an official, please contact the competition committee at competition@mcsl.org with the section you will be attending, your preferred assignment and your team affiliation. Preliminary and Final Seedings

Preliminary All Star Relay Seedings for each Section will be posted in advance of the meet with Final Seeding’s posted by the Thursday before the Meet. If you identify errors or have questions regarding your teams seeding you should reach out to the automation team at automation@mcsl.org. 

Meet T-Shirts

Meet T–Shirts for this event may be ordered in advance of the meet through Capital Sport & Swim. Use this sizing sheet and this order form. T-Shirts may be ordered for all Relay team members, that are listed on the All Star Relay seeding (including alternates) posted on the web. T-Shirts may be picked-up, by a team Representative, at the Capital Swim & Sport tent during the meet.

Team Tents 

Team tents may be placed on the grassy areas behind the starting end of the Competition Pool. No tents will be permitted in the grassy area between the Competition Pool and the upper Recreation pools. Tents left overnight at the pool for Individual All Stars are left at the owner's risk.

Parking 

Entrance to the Centers parking lot is only through the easternmost (indoor pool) driveway and the exit is through the westernmost (outdoor pool) driveway.

A fee of $2.00 is charged for parking in the Center’s lot. You may drop someone off without paying the fee but you cannot park in the lot and must exit after dropping off. If you choose to park in the Centers lot only park in defined spaces. Do not make your own parking space. 

If you do not park in the Centers lot you may park on Martins Lane, the Rock Terrace School parking lot (do not park on their fields or grass) or in the Board of Education parking lot off of Mannakee Street.

2022 MCSL Individual 
All Star Meet

Date, Location & Schedule 

The meet will be held the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center, 355 Martins Lane, on Sunday, July 31st. Warm-ups will begin at 7:00 am and the first Event will start at 8:00 am. 

The entire pool will be available for general warm-up but only lanes 2, 3, 6 and 7 of the Competition area will be available for Starts and Sprints. The warm-up schedule is as follows:

Lanes 2, 3, 6 and 7 will be used for Starts and Sprints throughout the Warm-up session. All other lanes will be available for General Warm-up. All swimmers must enter the pool at the Start End only.

With the exception of the Start and & Sprint lanes, all swimmers must enter the pool feet first.

Once swimmers for the first heat of an event have been released from the Clerk of Course and moved to the Starting Area, alternates should check-in with the Deck Referee or Chief Judge. Only the Deck Referee will place alternates in an event. If there are empty lanes they will be placed in a lane. If there are empty lanes and no alternates present at the start of the event the lanes will not be filled.

Shuttle Service

Shuttle service will be available for this meet from 6:00am until after the meet ends. The shuttle parking location will be at Montgomery College, Rockville lot 10 which is the lot adjacent to Mannakee Street closest to the Swim and Fitness Center. Meet attendees should look for the "Shuttle Stop". Important Note: If you utilize the shuttle service Masks are required to be worn while you are on the bus. Disposable masks will be available on the shuttle for riders who do not have their own.
